The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, has led Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) officials in condoling with Commissioner Johnson Muthama and his family following the sudden demise of their son, Moses Muthama Nduya.
Speaking during a visit to the bereaved family, Dr. Wetang’ula conveyed his deepest sympathies, describing the loss as heartbreaking and devastating. He noted that the passing of Moses Nduya, following a short illness, had shocked not only the family but also close friends, colleagues, and the wider political fraternity.
“The loss of a child is the heaviest burden a parent can bear. Though we hope to be laid to rest by our children, God sometimes plans otherwise,” said Speaker Wetang’ula.
The Speaker, who visited the family alongside PSC colleagues and Parliamentary staff, assured Commissioner Muthama and Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu of Parliament’s solidarity and unwavering support during the difficult period.
“Today, as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Service Commission, I am here with colleagues and staff from Parliament to convey our heartfelt condolences to you, Senator Muthama, and Mama, Senator Agnes Kavindu, for the loss of your son. Your loss is our loss, and your pain is our pain,” he said.
Dr. Wetang’ula also reflected on his long-standing friendship with Commissioner Muthama, which dates back to 1984. He highlighted their shared political journey, noting that they had served together in various leadership capacities, including in the Senate and now as PSC Commissioners.
“We stand together. I know you are strong, and God will enable you to overcome this grief. We have served together as elected leaders for many years, and it is only right that we comfort one another when such unfortunate circumstances strike our families,” he added.
PSC Member Hon. Patrick Makau praised Commissioner Muthama for his steadfast leadership and service to the nation and his community, noting that his influence and voice have represented many Kenyans.
“You are among our senior leaders, and we are here to stand with you as colleagues and friends during this painful moment,” said Hon. Makau.
Commissioner Faith Gitau encouraged the family to seek strength and comfort in faith as they navigate the difficult season of mourning.
Other leaders who accompanied the Speaker included Hon. Mwengi Mutuse, Hon. Joshua Mwalyo, Senate Clerk and PSC Secretary Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye, and National Assembly Clerk Mr. Samuel Njoroge.
The leaders joined the family in prayer and remembrance, assuring them of continued support as they come to terms with their loss.
