Defending champions Katwanyaa Falcons have sent a strong message to their rivals in the Governor Wavinya Cup after powering into the inter–Sub County stage with a convincing 4–2 victory over Wolves in a thrilling Matungulu Sub-County final. Their female counterparts, Katwanyaa Queens, also booked their place in the next round after edging out K Royal Starlets 2–1.
In Kangundo Sub-County, Kikambuani showcased resilience and attacking flair to eliminate Kawethei FC 4–3 in a tightly contested encounter. Kakuyuni Starlets will represent the region in the women’s category after progressing from their bracket.
Kathiani Sub-County produced equally gripping action as Kathiani Eagles secured a narrow 1–0 win over Mwang'a FC to advance. In a dramatic finish to the women’s tie, Kathiani Queens triumphed 8–7 on penalties after a tense stalemate with Nzaikoni Starlets.
With the competition now entering its decisive phase, all qualified teams have their eyes firmly set on the iconic Kenyatta Stadium grand finale—and the coveted Ksh. 1 million prize awaiting the champions. The road to glory is clearer than ever as the Wavinya Cup reaches its penultimate stage.
