Magarini Constituency — Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Harrison Kombe has received a major boost ahead of Thursday’s by-election after fellow contender John Masha of the Kenya Social Congress stepped down in his favor.
Masha, who formally threw his support behind Kombe, was welcomed by Governor Gideon Mung’aro and Kaloleni MP Paul Katana, both of whom hailed the decision as a significant move that could pave the way for a decisive victory. Katana praised Masha’s gesture, saying it demonstrates unity among leaders committed to the development of Magarini.
Speaking at the event, Masha explained that he chose to back Kombe to allow him to complete the projects he had initiated before his election was nullified. He further pledged to mobilize all his supporters to vote for Kombe, even though his own name will remain on the ballot.
The by-election comes nearly two years after Kombe’s initial election was annulled, leaving Magarini without representation in the National Assembly. Voters are now set to elect a new MP who will steer ongoing development projects in the constituency.
