Wiper Party leaders have intensified campaigns for Kalonzo Musyoka's 2027 presidential bid, describing him as the opposition's strongest candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the next General Election.
Speaking during a meeting at Ngiini Secondary School in Kathiani Constituency, the leaders urged the Kamba community to remain united behind Kalonzo and not be swayed by what they termed as political handouts from Kenya Kwanza leaders. They argued that the region needs sustainable development rather than short-term promises.
Kathiani MP and Deputy Minority Leader Robert Mbui criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration, saying many of the promises made to boda boda riders, mama mboga and the Hustler Nation have not been fulfilled. He also questioned the government's focus on the proposed Kenya Vision 2060, arguing that millions of unemployed Kenyans require immediate economic opportunities instead of long-term projections.
Mbui reaffirmed Wiper's commitment to Kalonzo's presidential bid, maintaining that the current administration has failed to address the country's economic challenges and that the party is determined to offer Kenyans an alternative leadership in 2027.
Embakasi South MP Musili Mawathe dismissed reports linking Kalonzo to a possible alliance with President Ruto, insisting there are no negotiations to join the broad-based government. He described the claims as baseless political propaganda intended to weaken the opposition.
Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru called on the Kamba community to support Kalonzo's nationwide campaign and urged eligible voters to register ahead of the 2027 General Election. He expressed confidence that Kenyans would turn out in large numbers to vote and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
Former Chief Administrative Secretary Jackson Kala also dismissed speculation that Kalonzo could work with President Ruto, saying the rumours were "dead on arrival" and would not derail the Wiper leader's presidential ambitions.
The meeting was attended by Senator Agnes Kavindu, Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kamene Kasimbi, and several other Wiper leaders from the region, who reiterated their support for Kalonzo's bid for the presidency.
