In his address, the President said Madaraka Day serves as a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and vision of Kenya’s founding generation, whose struggle secured the country’s self-governance and laid the foundation for national development. He noted that their legacy continues to inspire Kenyans to build a more prosperous and united nation.

This year’s theme, “Education: Skills and the Future,” featured prominently in the celebrations, with the President emphasizing that in a rapidly evolving global economy, Kenya’s greatest strength lies in the knowledge, skills, and resilience of its people. He said investing in education and empowering citizens remains key to driving innovation and economic transformation.

Ruto underscored the significance of holding the national celebrations in Wajir, describing it as a powerful statement of inclusivity and national unity. He said the move affirms that every region of the country matters and has a role to play in shaping Kenya’s future.
