Makueni Huduma Centre Extends Working Hours to 7pm to Boost Access to Government Services

Residents of Makueni County will now have more time to access government services after Huduma Kenya announced the extension of operating hours at the Makueni Huduma Centre from 7:00am to 7:00pm, effective Monday, July 20, 2026.

The move makes Makueni the 21st Huduma Centre in the country to adopt the extended working schedule, a government initiative aimed at improving access to public services for citizens who are unable to visit government offices during the normal 8:00am to 5:00pm working hours.

According to Huduma Kenya, the new operating hours are designed to accommodate the unique economic activities of Makueni residents, many of whom rely on farming, horticulture and small-scale trade for their livelihoods.

The agency noted that farmers who begin work before sunrise will now be able to access government services early in the morning before heading to their farms, while traders and horticultural producers can visit the centre in the evening after completing their day's business.

Huduma Kenya said the expansion of service hours reflects the government's commitment to delivering citizen-centred, efficient and inclusive public services by making them more accessible and convenient. The initiative has now been rolled out in 21 Huduma Centres across the country.

Residents of Makueni and neighbouring areas have been encouraged to take advantage of the new schedule by visiting the Huduma Centre between 7:00am and 7:00pm, Monday to Friday, for a wide range of government services.
