Public Service, human Capital and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has announced plans to roll out a technology-driven recruitment system aimed at eliminating human interference and curbing corruption in public service hiring.

Speaking during a food distribution exercise in Mbooni and Machakos, Ruku said the new system will leverage available digital technologies to ensure transparency, meritocracy, and fairness in the recruitment process across government institutions.

The CS emphasized that the proposed system will minimize direct human interaction, which has often been blamed for irregularities in hiring. According to him, applicants will be assessed through automated processes that evaluate academic credentials and professional qualifications, ensuring that only the most deserving candidates secure employment opportunities.

“We have the technology to guarantee that recruitment in public service and other government agencies is conducted with minimal human interaction. If your child has qualified and applied for a job, the system will independently assess their credentials and ensure the right candidate is selected without influence,” Ruku stated.

He noted that the move is part of broader reforms within the ministry to restore public confidence in government hiring processes, which have in the past been marred by allegations of nepotism and bribery.

At the same time, Ruku renewed his call to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to join President William Ruto’s broad-based government, warning that failure to do so could leave him politically isolated ahead of the next general election.

“President William Ruto has created a broad-based government. If Kalonzo wants to be part of it, he should come forward and engage. Otherwise, he risks remaining in the political cold,” he said.

Meanwhile, former Mbooni MP Kisoi Munyao urged the Kamba community to support the Kenya Kwanza administration, citing ongoing development projects in the region.

Munyao pointed to the expansion of tarmacked roads in Mbooni Constituency as a key milestone, noting that improved infrastructure has significantly boosted local economic activities and enhanced connectivity.

The leaders were addressing residents during a relief food distribution program, where they also reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and accelerating development initiatives in Ukambani.
