The Kenya Police Service has taken a major step towards modernising its communication systems with the launch of new platforms aimed at enhancing public engagement and improving the flow of official information.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat, accompanied by senior police officers, commissioned the newly constructed and fully equipped Strategic Communication Office at the Kenya Police Headquarters, Vigilance House.

The new office is expected to strengthen the Service’s capacity to coordinate, manage and disseminate official information in a timely and effective manner, particularly in an increasingly digital environment.

The commissioning was also marked by the launch of a new Kenya Police Service magazine profiling officers deployed to the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti. The publication provides an opportunity to highlight the experiences and contributions of Kenyan officers serving in the international mission.

In addition, the Service unveiled a redesigned official website intended to make it easier for members of the public to access timely, accurate and reliable information from the police.

The three initiatives—the Strategic Communication Office, the police magazine and the redesigned website—are expected to transform how the Kenya Police Service communicates with the public and other stakeholders.

According to the Service, the platforms will enhance coordination in the delivery of official information, strengthen public engagement and provide the police with a direct channel through which to communicate its activities, achievements and mandate.

The initiatives form part of the Kenya Police Service’s broader modernisation efforts as it seeks to adapt its communication strategies to the demands of a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
