The Kenyan government has issued an urgent travel and safety advisory to its citizens living in or travelling through the Middle East following a sharp escalation of hostilities involving Israel, the United States, and Iran.

In a statement released on Sunday, March 1, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs said the advisory comes in the wake of attacks by Israeli and U.S. forces on Iran, followed by retaliatory strikes by Iran targeting Israel and U.S. bases in parts of the Gulf region.

The Ministry cautioned that the evolving security situation poses potential risks to civilians and urged Kenyans in affected areas to remain vigilant.

The advisory specifically addresses Kenyans residing in or travelling through Iran, Israel, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iraq, as well as surrounding areas.

Kenyans in these countries have been advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid non-essential movement, particularly near military facilities and crowded public spaces.

The Ministry further urged citizens to strictly follow guidance issued by local security authorities, monitor official communication from host governments, and remain alert to possible flight delays and airspace disruptions.

In addition, Kenyans who have not registered with their nearest Embassy or Consulate have been strongly encouraged to do so immediately to facilitate timely updates and access to assistance in case of emergencies .

The government emphasized that registration with diplomatic missions is critical for effective coordination, especially should the situation deteriorate further.

For those requiring urgent assistance, the Ministry has directed citizens to contact the nearest Kenyan Embassy or Consulate in cities including Tehran, Tel Aviv, Kuwait City, Muscat, Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The statement, issued by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding Kenyan citizens abroad.

The Ministry said it continues to closely monitor developments and remains in constant contact with Kenya’s diplomatic missions across the region, promising to provide further updates through official channels as the situation unfolds .
