Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, popularly known as Kawaya, has predicted that President William Ruto will secure a resounding victory in the 2027 General Election, saying the Head of State will win by a much wider margin than he did in 2022.
Speaking on Thursday during the launch of the KSh 50 million Mwala ESP Market project in Mwala Town, the legislator warned local leaders and residents against aligning themselves with what he described as unstable and divisive political formations, arguing that such choices could leave the region politically isolated after the next polls.
“The big question we must ask ourselves is whether we want to be part of the government that will be formed in 2027, or whether we want to be left out because we allowed ourselves to be misled,” Kawaya said.
He took a swipe at opposition figure Rigathi Gachagua whom he nicknamed as ‘Suti Kombo’, accusing him of lacking the capacity to unite leaders under one political banner. According to the MP, recent developments had vindicated his long-held position that the opposition camp was bound to fracture.
“I said from the very beginning that Rigathi does not have the ability to hold people together. He cannot unite leaders. What we are witnessing now is a mass exodus, with leaders leaving one after another, openly and directly,” he noted.
Kawaya argued that internal divisions were inevitable in any political grouping associated with the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, adding that the community was being misled with false promises of delivering the presidency to the Kamba people.
“As a son of this community, I must say we are being lied to. We are being told that someone will deliver the presidency to the Kamba people. That is simply not possible,” he said.
The MP cited the departure of several high-profile leaders from the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) as evidence of the opposition’s weakening grip. Among those said to have decamped are Juja MP George Koimburi, former Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau, Githunguri MP Gathoni wa Muchomba, former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, Maragua MP Mary Wamaua, and several other MPs from the Mt. Kenya region, many of whom have since shifted their allegiance back to President Ruto’s camp.
“Almost everyone who was working with him has left. Only about ten people remain. That alone should tell us everything we need to know,” Kawaya said.
He urged residents of Mwala and the wider Ukambani region to make political choices that would safeguard development and ensure continued access to national government support, insisting that backing President Ruto was the surest path to inclusion and progress.
The launch of the ESP Market project marked a major milestone for Mwala Town, with the MP saying the investment underscored the benefits of cooperating with the national government to deliver tangible development to the grassroots.
