Machakos County has received a significant boost to its healthcare system following the donation of ICT equipment by the Centre for International Health Education and Biosecurity (CIHEB), a move expected to accelerate the digitization of health services and improve service delivery across the county.

The consignment comprises 188 desktop computers, 19 laptops, and 328 tablets, which will be distributed to health facilities to enhance efficiency, improve access to patient information, and support healthcare workers in delivering faster and more accurate services.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at her office, Governor Wavinya Ndeti expressed gratitude to CIHEB for the support, describing the donation as a transformative investment in the county’s health sector.

“On behalf of the people of Machakos, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to CIHEB. You are helping us build a resilient, efficient, and technology-enabled health system that will serve generations to come,” Governor Ndeti said.

She noted that the equipment will be deployed to all health facilities across the county to ensure equitable and efficient delivery of healthcare services. The Governor further assured the donor that the devices would be strategically allocated, safeguarded as public assets, and optimally utilized to advance the county’s universal health coverage agenda.

“To the team from CIHEB, we do not take this contribution lightly. As a government, I assure you that these devices will be deployed to areas of greatest need and used to strengthen service delivery for our people,” she added.

The partnership between Machakos County and CIHEB is expected to significantly improve patient care by reducing waiting times, enabling faster access to medical records, enhancing accuracy in diagnosis and treatment, and ensuring seamless integration of health data across facilities.

County health officials say the initiative marks a major step towards modernizing healthcare delivery and strengthening digital health information systems, positioning Machakos as a leader in technology-driven healthcare services at the county level.
