Law enforcement officers from Laare Police Station have arrested six suspects in connection with a shocking gang rape incident reported on December 1, 2025, in Laare Town, Igembe North Sub-County.
The attack occurred during a traditional circumcision procession, when a young woman was violently assaulted by a group of men. A distress call from members of the public prompted officers to rush to the scene, where they found the victim severely traumatised, her clothes torn and her condition indicating the brutality of the ordeal. She was immediately escorted to Nyambene Hospital for urgent medical care.
In the days that followed, detectives mounted an intensive manhunt to track down the perpetrators. Guided by forensic leads, police conducted targeted raids across Irinde, Lubwa, and Kiarama areas. The operation led to the arrest of six suspects: Dennis Mwirigi, Ismael Gichuge, Elijah Muriki, Isaac Ntomauta, Joseph Marete, and Phineas Mutali, all of whom were flushed out of their hideouts.
The six now join three other suspects who were arrested on the same day the crime was reported. All nine individuals are currently in custody as police complete processing ahead of arraignment.
Investigators say they are pursuing additional leads and remain committed to ensuring every person involved in the heinous act is identified and brought to justice. Authorities have vowed that the search will continue until all perpetrators are held accountable.
