Makueni Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili on Thursday called on drivers and other road users to exercise caution and strictly adhere to traffic regulations, especially during the festive season, following the tragic Ngoluni road accident.

The crash occurred after a speeding lorry veered out of control and rammed into a 14-seater matatu that was stationary at a matatu bay, claiming six lives and leaving several others injured.

During a visit to survivors at Makueni County Referral Hospital, Mulili expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. She also wished the injured a swift recovery.

While touring the hospital wards, Mulili visited victims of an earlier incident in which an epileptic driver lost control of a vehicle and crashed into a supermarket, injuring several shoppers.

Mulili praised the medical staff at the referral hospital for their prompt and professional handling of the emergencies, noting that their swift response had saved many lives.

She was accompanied during the visit by Wote Ward MCA Felix Mateso and Health Chief Officer Dr. Harvey Mulei.
