A joint team of detectives from Mutuati and Igembe North Sub-Counties has dismantled a violent robbery ring, arresting six suspected gang members and recovering two Falcon pistols in a meticulously planned operation.

The breakthrough followed weeks of covert surveillance, with officers tracking the suspects’ movements before finally closing in. Detectives stormed the hideouts in a coordinated sweep, catching the suspects off guard and thwarting what is believed to have been their next planned attack.

During the arrests, officers recovered two Falcon pistols, three rounds of live ammunition, two numberless motorcycles, stripped motorbike parts, and other incriminating items—evidence pointing to a well-organised criminal network.

Ballistics experts have launched a detailed forensic examination of the seized weapons to establish whether they were used in previous crimes.

The suspects—Derrick Kithinji, Aaron Mwendia, Amon Muarangiri, Anthony Munene, Francis Mugambi, and Ambrose Muriithi—are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned today.

With the festive season approaching, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has issued a stern warning to criminal elements, emphasizing that intensified operations will continue nationwide. Detectives say they remain on high alert to ensure the safety and security of all Kenyans.
