Labor Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa have publicly taken on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, criticizing him for spreading misinformation about the Emali road construction project.
Speaking in Kitui, CS Mutua praised President William Ruto for accelerating development projects in the region, emphasizing the administration’s “chap chap” approach to delivering infrastructure quickly.
“Some people have been stunned. We saw our friend Kalonzo yesterday in Matiliku; he claimed the road construction had stopped. He is lying to citizens,” Mutua said. “He is not the problem; the problem is that he hates development and is therefore confused. We are telling him to wait for William Ruto to show him real progress because that is what matters.”
MP Kimani Ichungwa added that the youth in Northern Kenya had celebrated road construction projects through content creation, contrasting this with Kalonzo’s actions in Ukambani.
“The difference is that in the north, content creators are youths. Here, in Ukambani, we have an old mzee pretending to be a content creator,” Ichungwa said, referring to Kalonzo. “Old men, please leave content creation to the youths! Leaders should focus on creating opportunities for the young people.”
Ichungwa further stressed that development is both a right for citizens and a responsibility for leaders. “If you have been in leadership in Ukambani for nearly 40 years and never realized your duty to the people, please allow those with a clear plan and agenda to deliver projects,” he said.
The remarks come after Kalonzo posted a video in Emali suggesting that contractors had withdrawn machinery a day after President Ruto launched the road. Mutua and Ichungwa dismissed the claims as false and reaffirmed their support for ongoing development initiatives in Ukambani.
Both leaders urged citizens to focus on tangible progress rather than political theatrics, highlighting the government’s commitment to infrastructure, youth empowerment, and opportunity creation across the region.
