Police in Mbumbuni are holding a 33-year-old man, Eric, accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on his wife during a brutal domestic altercation that occurred Thursday night in Kandulyu Village, Miau Sublocation, Kako Location.

According to Mbumbuni OCS Antony Mmaitsi, the man allegedly attacked his wife and severely injured her private parts using his bare hands.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at Makueni Level 5 Hospital, where doctors are managing the horrific injuries.

“It is unfortunate. My advice to married couples is this — before acting on suspicion, do proper investigation. This man acted on impulse without confirming anything,” said OCS Mmaitsi.

Kako Location Chief Johnbosco Kisambo, who confirmed the incident, stated that the woman was rescued by her father-in-law after her cries for help alerted neighbours.

The couple has two young children — a boy and a girl. The suspect, a mason in the village, was previously married before settling with his current wife, who is a housewife.

Chief Kisambo also noted that there had been no previous reports of domestic violence between the two, making the attack even more shocking to residents who knew the family.

The suspect is currently in custody at Mbumbuni Police Station as investigations continue.
