Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has called for unity, accountability, and responsible leadership at all levels of government, urging national leaders to embrace reforms and listen to the voices of Kenyan youth.

Speaking during a Sunday service at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Parish in Mavoloni, Governor Wavinya emphasized the urgent need for transformative governance that is transparent, responsive, and fair. She noted that Kenyans are yearning for leadership that puts the public interest first and upholds the principles of justice and equity.

“Governance systems must work for the people,” she said. “Kenyans are demanding leadership that is accountable and sensitive to their needs.”

The Governor expressed concern over the conduct of certain public officers, cautioning against reckless, divisive, and inflammatory statements that only fuel public outrage and division. She called for restraint and responsibility in public communication, urging leaders to be mindful of their words.

She also made a passionate appeal to President William Ruto and other top leaders to pay closer attention to the youth, warning that the rising tide of disillusionment must be addressed through inclusive policies and systemic reforms.

"The youth want accountability and governance systems that deliver,” she stated. “We must listen to them and take action.”

Governor Wavinya underscored the importance of national cohesion, reminding Kenyans that sustainable development and peace can only thrive where fairness and inclusion are prioritized.

She further encouraged the youth to remain rooted in faith and to actively engage with churches and religious institutions, which she described as vital in guiding young people away from destructive behaviours.

In conclusion, she thanked the church for its unwavering role as a moral compass, praising its continued advocacy for justice, unity, and ethical leadership.

“The church remains the voice of reason in our nation,” she said. “We are grateful for its guidance.”
