Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has lashed out at Cabinet Secretary for Interrior and Cordination of national Government Kipchumba Murkomen, accusing him of making inflammatory statements that risk further alienating citizens from the government.
Speaking during a county government empowerment program in Matungulu North Ward, Machakos County, Mwangangi emphasized that leaders must choose their words carefully and work to unite, not divide, the country.
He took issue with Murkomen’s reported comments praising police officers for "shooting to kill" during the recent nationwide protests, questioning how such extreme actions could be morally or legally justified in a constitutional democracy.
“Kenya needs leaders who promote peace and respect human rights—not those who cheer on brutality,” Mwangangi stated.
The Deputy Governor further urged President William Ruto to be more deliberate in appointing individuals to public office, insisting that national leaders must embody values of service, humility, and constitutionalism.
Mwangangi also decried what he described as the selective application of justice. While former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over inciting remarks, other outspoken leaders like Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi have not faced similar accountability.
Concluding his address, Mwangangi expressed unwavering confidence in Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, declaring him the ideal candidate to lead Kenya into a new era of constitutional order and citizen respect.
“Kalonzo’s leadership offers hope for restoring dignity, justice, and unity in this country,” he said.
