Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr., accompanied by senior county government officials, visited the home of the late businessman Stephen Ngei in Makindu to condole with his family following his tragic death in a road accident.

Ngei and his wife, Giannaphina Mumbua, lost their lives in a grisly accident along the busy Mombasa–Nairobi Highway near Masimba Township, a tragedy that has left the local community and business fraternity in mourning.

Speaking during the condolence visit, Governor Mutula described the late Ngei as a hardworking and accomplished entrepreneur whose contribution to the transport sector and the local economy had a significant impact both within the country and beyond.

The governor praised Ngei’s entrepreneurial spirit, noting that his dedication and investment in the transport industry created employment opportunities and positively transformed many lives.

He urged residents to remain united and maintain peace as they continue to support the bereaved family during the difficult period of mourning.

“We must stand together as a community and offer our prayers and support to the family during this painful moment,” Governor Mutula said.

Stephen Ngei was a renowned businessman and the proprietor of Makindu Motors Limited, a company that has played a key role in the transport sector. His death, alongside that of his wife, has been widely mourned by leaders, business associates, and residents across Makueni County.
