The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) registered a commanding victory in yesterday’s by-elections after clinching all the contested seats in Narok, Elgeyo Marakwet and Samburu counties, further cementing the party’s growing political dominance across the country.

In the highly contested Member of National Assembly by-election for Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County, UDA candidate David Kipsang Keter emerged victorious after garnering 18,266 votes.

Caleb Gekonde, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officer for the constituency, officially declared Keter the winner after the completion of vote tallying.

Vincent Kibet Rotich of the DCP Party finished second with 10,760 votes in the race that attracted significant political attention.

According to the IEBC, the constituency had a total of 44,353 registered voters, out of which 29,538 cast their ballots, translating to a voter turnout of 66.6 percent.

UDA also secured a landslide victory in the Endo Ward County Assembly Ward by-election in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Dominic Leparmarai, the Returning Officer for the poll, declared Festus Korir Kiprop of UDA the duly elected Member of County Assembly after he secured 4,475 votes.

His closest challenger, Shadrack Kosgei Chelang’a of the NDP Party, managed 752 votes.

The ward registered 14,361 voters, with 5,260 ballots cast, representing a voter turnout of 36.59 percent.

In Samburu County, UDA completed the clean sweep after Daniel Lolngojine won the Porro Ward County Assembly Ward seat.

Returning Officer Sophina Leleruk announced that Lolngojine garnered 2,328 votes to defeat KANU candidate Josphat Jumani Leleur, who received 1,036 votes.

Out of the 6,358 registered voters in the ward, 4,194 participated in the exercise, resulting in a voter turnout of 65.96 percent.

The victories are expected to strengthen UDA’s political influence ahead of future electoral contests, with the party demonstrating strong grassroots support in the three regions.

Political analysts say the results could also signal growing confidence among voters in the ruling party’s development agenda and leadership.
